My Top 5 Book Recommendations for Learning Drums

Learning to play a music instrument requires a lot of dedication , hard-work and patience. These resources are just supplementary to these qualities. I have personally used these books and I highly recommend them. These books are mentioned in increasing order of complexity.

1. Stick Control for the Snare Drummer by George Lawrence Stone
The book might seem like one for the marching band snare players but believe me it's amazing for getting a good grip over the rudiments.

2.   Rockschool Drums Grades I-VIII
My music school used these books for teaching drums. These are very easy to understand and are very well-structured to help you find your weak areas and strengthen them.

 3.  The Encyclopedia of Double Bass Drumming
This book encompasses a lot of double bass pedal variations to help you get the dexterity and command, which you always wanted to have.

4.  Periphery III: Select Difficulty Drum Transcriptions by Matt Halpern
This is one of the most influential albums which shaped my playing style . If you want to master those ghost notes , go for these transcriptions by Matt Halpern, the drummer of Periphery.

 5.  Animals as Leaders Drum Transcriptions by Matt Garstka
If you're into progressive music which delimits the boundaries of musical genres, four-way coordination ,and want to develop exceptional fluidity and independence, these are for you.
