PLAB 1 experience: Dr. Riddhi Goel

When did you appear for the exam?

I appear for my PLAB-1 exam on the 5th of November 2020.

I had originally booked it for the 25th of June, which sadly got canceled due to the pandemic.

What was your total duration of preparation?

In total, I studied for around 12–15 weeks for the exam.

What sources did you use?

The sources I used were:

1.Plabable

Plabable is a question bank that contains 31 subjects and around 3000 multiple-choice questions.

I initially started solving Plabable subject-wise and realized that there were many topics that I had forgotten and many more I had no idea about.

This is where Plabable helped me. The explanations given after each question were extremely helpful and made me understand the concepts clearly.

The key is to not mug up all the information given in Plabable but to understand and make your concepts stronger.

2.Plab1keys

These are basically the notes from the explanations in Plabable. The content in Plabkeys is more precise and well organized.

How did you study for the exam?

I read through Plabable once and then tried to make my notes.
Trust me, making notes helps a lot. It makes it easier to revise when the exam is getting closer.

I majorly solved Plabable and finished around 9 mocks in total from Plabable itself. I started with a score of 71% in mocks which later went up to 90%.

After clearing the exam, I realized that the questions were majorly based on the topics discussed in Plabable.

I wouldn’t say that we had repeated questions in our exam, but there were many similar questions. I would say that around 75% of the paper was based on the facts discussed in Plabable.

What is your most important advice for passing PLAB-1?

  1. The most important thing is to understand the concepts and not mug them up
  2. Don’t try to learn everything from the study sources
  3. Understand and enjoy reading the content

PLAB-1 is indeed an easy exam and with a dedicated study duration of around 10 weeks, one can definitely clear it.
